Our Team
Robert Zimmerman As managing director overseeing the firm’s media and entertainment practice, Robert Zimmerman brings more than 15 years of experience in public relations. He has handled some of the hottest names and news stories from the early ‘90s to today, including: Michael Eisner’s “rebirth” and launch of his new media studio, Vuguru; Howard Stern’s move from terrestrial to satellite radio; And FOX News ascension to becoming a leading worldwide news organization.
Robert is well-versed in the entertainment, traditional and new media sectors. He is known as an excellent strategist in branding, positioning, event and crisis management, and is widely considered in the industry as a media specialist. His excellent relationships with members of the media in all sectors including television, daily, weekly and long lead publications, trade outlets and online media yield effective media exposure for clients that he and his group represent.
As a Senior Vice President at Dan Klores Communications, Robert has represented some very recognizable names including Michael Eisner, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Sirius Satellite Radio, The Wall Street Journal, Howard Stern, Donatella Versace, Bill Hemmer, Glenn Beck, Veoh.com, Robert F.X. Sillerman’s CKX, Court TV, Worldwide Biggies, Foxwoods Resort & Casino and iNDemand TV.
Robert served as spokesperson for FOX News for seven years from 1998 to 2004. As Vice President of Media Relations, he helped make the cable news channel number one in the industry leading it to be named one of the top ten hottest brands in 2004 by USA Today. Zimmerman developed and oversaw press strategies that supported corporate initiatives for FOX News, its international expansion and television, radio and Internet properties. He directed the media campaigns for Bill O’Reilly, Geraldo Rivera and other FOX News talent, as well as oversaw the launch of The Radio Factor with Bill O’Reilly.
Before joining FOX, he handled brand development, corporate and entertainment publicity for numerous Web 1.0 companies as Vice President of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide’s New Media division. His clients included InterZine, Geocities, YoYoDyne, N2K and SOFTBANK Interactive Marketing.
During his tenure at the Lippin Group, Zimmerman represented several destination, television and musical clients, including Hollywood Casinos, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Martin Guitars, and the Grammy-winning jazz ensemble Fourplay. He oversaw publicity for Multimedia Entertainment – the syndicators of The Phil Donahue Show and The Jerry Springer Show, and was a member of the team that launched Home & Garden Television.
Zimmerman began his PR career at Dan Klores Associates, where he handled the publicity for the House of Blues and its launches in Boston, New Orleans and Los Angeles, the Harley Davidson Café, Woodstock ’94, as well as clients including Jay Leno, Gary Shandling and Kids In The Hall. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School of Communications. |
