Jonathan Cohen
Jonathan Cohen, Managing Director of Middleberg Communications, is a public relations specialist with a successful record of helping corporate, governmental and non-profit institutions meet their most important strategic communications goals.
Prior to joining Middleberg, Jonathan served as president of the Weiser Group, a firm with 30 years experience in strategic communications for financial services enterprises, technology firms, trade associations, healthcare companies, and non-profit organizations.
Before joining The Weiser Group, Mr. Cohen was vice president for corporate communications at Mercator Software, a publicly traded global company with $139 million in annual revenue.  As the company’s chief spokesman, he helped successfully lead Mercator’s restructuring and turnaround efforts culminating in the company’s sale to Ascential Software in 2003. 
A journalist by training, Mr. Cohen began his career with the Sheridan Broadcasting Network and The Wall Street Journal Radio Network in 1982.  Subsequently, he joined the staff of New York City Mayor Ed Koch, where he managed key aspects of high-priority special projects such as voting regulation reforms, drug enforcement policy development, and crisis management.  In 1991, Mr. Cohen became director of public policy for Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, Inc., where he advised Edgar Bronfman, Sr. and served as Mr. Bronfman’s liaison to governments and political and religious officials.  In 1995 he became the publisher of Commentary, a leading journal of public policy and cultural criticism.
Mr. Cohen has been a regularly featured commentator on Bloomberg News Radio. He has played leading roles in creating a number of non-profit public policy initiatives including The Freedom House Municipal Fellows Program (Prague and New York City), United Nations Watch (Geneva) and The Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society (Cambridge, MA).  A repeat guest lecturer to Harvard Law Professor Charles Nesson’s “Cyber One” class, Mr. Cohen’s book reviews and essays have appeared in Commentary, The Weekly Standard, The New York Sun, The Baltimore Sun, The Forward, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Houston Chronicle. He holds a J.D. from New York Law School and a B.A. with distinction from Kenyon College.
