History
New Independent Agency, Distinguished Lineage
Middleberg Communications is named for founder and CEO Don Middleberg, a public relations pioneer with a 30+ year record of unquestioned success. Don launched his previous firm, Middleberg & Associates, in 1989 and earned global recognition by anticipating the impact of the Internet on public relations and capitalizing on these trends for his clients.
Middleberg & Associates was named the Best Mid-Sized Firm of the Year in 1999 and ranked as the #1 Internet Agency in 2000. By the time of its sale to Havas in 2000, it had grown into a Top 20, $20 million firm with 150 employees in Boston, San Francisco and New York.
Middleberg Communications, formed in April 2006, reflects Don's determination to build a new independent firm that is free to focus on clients rather than the arbitrary financial mandates of a faraway, publicly held communications conglomerate. In October 2006 he joined forces with TowersGroup Inc, another well-regarded independent public relations firm, representing some of America's most prestigious names in financial services and professional services.
