What’s the hottest technology application that’s over 15 years old? Why QR codes of course. Suddenly they are everywhere—on t-shirts, coffee mugs, newspaper ads, you name it. Developed in Japan in the mid-90s, QR codes are off the charts. They were all over SXSW, as my friend Peter Himler reported in his blog, The Flack. Take a look at some of the great pictures he took while in Austin, TX. I love this quote from one of his clients, John Puterbaugh, CEO of Nellymoser: “2D barcodes are to mobile what the URL was to the Internet.” Very cool and very true.
