The Social Network – A Different Take

The Social Network may not be one of the best movies ever, as Rolling Stone claims, and it may not win an Academy Award, as others have already deemed, but it is darn good with great performances. But what really struck me is that the movie presents yet another example of the business creativity that seems to happen more often in America than anywhere else. Thank goodness.

Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Google, Facebook. No other country compares. This is not to raise the flag in some hollow salute, but simply to say what an amazing place we live in. Here is a kid, barely out of his teens, who builds a multi-billion dollar empire in a few short years. Did he make mistakes? Of course. Who doesn’t at that age? Yet Facebook thrives, and its creator, Mark Zuckerberg, becomes the youngest billionaire in the world.
