Things That Make Me Smile

Things That Make Me Smile

Oreo just celebrated its 100th birthday. Oreo cookies are also, by the way, the best-selling cookie in the world – a fact I never knew before. I don’t think it’s possible to think of Oreos without bringing a smile to someone’s face. Talk about a great brand image. Other consumer products that fall into Oreo’s space are Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, Mallomars, Carvel Ice Cream, VWs, Schwinn bicycles, Hershey’s Kisses, and Cheerios. Apple is the latest entrant to the group of great brand images, with an unmatched popularity in the consumer electronics industry. The list can go on and on. To me, what’s important is that in this difficult world there are some things that endure and make life just a little bit better all the time.

When you think about it, what makes these brands work is their consistency and credibility. They don’t have brand extensions, they don’t change  their product’s formula, they don’t radically change their brand graphics. They remain true to who they are. Pure and simple. My thanks to these wonderful brands for making my life, the lives of my children and now grandchildren, brighter and happier every time we use them.
